Priscila Bomfim stands out in the musical world for her sensitivity and artistic versatility, whether in preparing casts, directing repertoire operas or premieres of new works, and even directing Brazilian popular music concerts. She was the first woman to conduct an opera in the official season of Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro and has an extensive résumé of musical direction and conducting of numerous operas, such as G. Verdi's "Un Ballo in Maschera," Offenbach's "Les Contes de Hoffmann," Philip Glass's "Orphée," Bizet/Constant's "La Tragédie de Carmen," Gounod's "Faust," J. Offenbach's "La Belle Hélène," Handel's "Serse" and "Armida Abbandonata," Bizet's "Carmen," Barbieri's "El Barberillo de Lavapiés," Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro," Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi," among other lyrical concerts.
In 2022, she conducted the premieres of four Brazilian operas, the complete "Le Vin Herbé" by Frank Martin, and Arnold Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire." In 2023, she directed the operas "Eugene Onegin" (Tchaikovsky) and "Cendrillon" (Pauline Viardot), in addition to concerts at Theatro Municipal de São Paulo and Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. She performs concerts with various orchestras in the country, such as the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra (OSB), São Pedro Theater Orchestra (SP), Campinas Municipal Symphony Orchestra (SP), University of São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSUSP), Espírito Santo Symphony Orchestra (ES), Bahia Symphony Orchestra (OSBA), among others.
Priscila was born in Braga, Portugal, and graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro with a Bachelor's degree in Piano with the highest distinction, "Summa cum laude." She completed her Bachelor's degree in Orchestral Conducting and obtained a Master's degree in Piano with a significant study on Sight-Reading at the Piano.
Currently, in addition to her work at Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, she is the musical director of two youth orchestras at IBME, one of which is composed solely of female students from Rio de Janeiro's public schools, the Chiquinha Gonzaga Youth Symphony Orchestra.
