Soprano Deborah Bulgarelli is known for her velvety and expressive timbre and has distinguished herself in roles with intense dramatic depth. With a solid academic background and a rising international career, she combines technical refinement with a strong stage presence.
She won First Prize in the Linus Lerner International Voice Competition and was also awarded in the 5th and 6th Young Soloists Competition of the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra, performing in the winners’ concerts under the baton of maestros Roberto Tibiriçá and Silvio Viegas. Additionally, she received the “Best Opera Performer of Carlos Gomes” award at the Carlos Gomes Competition.
Her most notable roles include Angelica in Suor Angelica and Madama Butterfly (Puccini), Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Ottavia in L’incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), and Marguerita in the world premiere of Il Noce di Benevento by Italian composer Giuseppe Balducci.
Since 2022, Deborah has been based in Ireland, where she made her European debut in the title role of Fiona Linnane’s opera The Hag of Loughrask. She has since been an active collaborator with Opera Workshop Limerick, directed by Shirley Keane, and is a regular performer at the Limerick Opera Festival. Her artistic journey also spans Dublin, London, Berlin, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Porto Alegre, where she has worked with mentors such as Annalisa Monticelli, Francesco Rosa, Caroline Dowdle, Aoifa O’Sullivan, Tim Ribchester, and Raminta Lampsatis.
Originally from Belo Horizonte, Deborah Bulgarelli holds a degree in Music – Vocal Performance from the State University of Minas Gerais. She was a member of the Opera Academy at Theatro São Pedro (São Paulo), where she performed in concerts, recitals, and operas under the direction of maestros André dos Santos and Luiz Fernando Malheiro.
