Brazilian-Italian soprano Camila Provenzale, born in São Paulo and currently residing in Zurich, is celebrated for her striking stage presence and refined vocal artistry. She has appeared on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Philharmonie de Paris, Barbican Centre in London, Zurich Opera, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Opéra de Bordeaux, and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. She also made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York with an Amazônia-inspired project presented by Marin Alsop and performed with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP). Upcoming performances include the Cologne Philharmonie (November 2025), the Philharmonie de Liège (December 2025), and the Kulturpalast Dresden (2026).
Among her recent stage highlights is a last-minute debut as Mathilde in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell at Linz Opera in June 2025, confirming her reputation for musical precision and stage assurance under pressure. She has also performed leading roles such as the Contessa di Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Opéra de Toulon, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at both the Garsington Opera Festival and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Donna Elvira at the Bregenzer Festspiele, and Micaëla (Carmen) with Opera North, among others.
Her repertoire includes roles such as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Mimì (La Bohème), Antonia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Marguerite (Faust), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Violetta (La Traviata), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Hannah Glawari (The Merry Widow), Leïla (Les Pêcheurs de Perles), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), and Liù (Turandot). More recently, she made her debut as Madama Butterfly and is now adding arias from Manon Lescaut, Tosca, and Arabella to her repertoire, with an eye toward future Lyric Spinto roles.
Beyond opera, Provenzale is widely recognized for her refined musicality in the symphonic and vocal-symphonic repertoire, having performed Mahler’s symphonies and Rückert Lieder, Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder, Carmina Burana, and works by Beethoven, Mozart, and Villa-Lobos, as well as contemporary composers such as Edino Krieger and João Guilherme Ripper.
She is the featured soloist of the ongoing Amazônia project conceived by Sebastião Salgado and Simone Menezes, which combines Salgado’s powerful photographs of the Amazon rainforest with the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos. Sponsored worldwide by Zurich Insurance, the project has toured more than fifteen cities across eight countries and includes her acclaimed recording of Villa-Lobos’s Amazon Forest with the Philharmonia Zürich, released by Alpha Classics.
Provenzale first gained international recognition at the prestigious Neue Stimmen competition in Germany, followed by success in the Paris Opera Competition, Belvedere Competition, Maria Callas Competition, Operalia, and BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. She received a scholarship from the Plácido Domingo Foundation to join his Opera Studio in Spain, touring globally for two years in opera concerts alongside Plácido Domingo and conductor Eugene Kohn.
A graduate in Lyric Singing from the University of São Paulo, Camila further refined her artistry at the Opera Studio and Opera Academy of Theatro São Pedro. Guided by her mentor Jack LiVigni, she continues to evolve as an artist, captivating audiences worldwide with her vocal versatility, emotional depth, and commanding stage presence.
