Cláudio Cruz is the Principal Conductor and Music Director of the São Paulo State Youth Symphony Orchestra, and he recently also served as the Principal Conductor of the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theatre Symphony Orchestra.
He has performed as a guest conductor with orchestras such as the Sinfonia Varsovia, New Japan Philharmonic, Hyogo Academy, Hiroshima Symphony, Svogtland Philharmonie (Germany), Jerusalem Symphony, Osaka Chamber Orchestra, Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, Avignon Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia (England), Montevideo Philharmonic, among others. In Brazil, he has conducted the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra, São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra, Paraná Symphony Orchestra, Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra, Cláudio Santoro National Theater Symphony Orchestra, and more.
He participated in Music Festivals in Brazil as a Conductor of the Academic Orchestra of the International Festival of Campos do Jordão in 2010 and 2011, and internationally at the Carinthia Summer Festival (Austria) and the International Music Festival of Cartagena (Colombia), where he performed as a chamber musician and Guest Conductor of the OSESP.
He was the Artistic Director of the Classical Music Division of the Curitiba Music Workshop from 2015 to 2017, conductor and artistic director of the Campinas Municipal Symphony Orchestra, Ribeirão Preto Symphony Orchestra, and the Villa-Lobos Chamber Orchestra. He recorded CDs with these orchestras featuring works by Carlos Gomes, Beethoven, Mozart, Tom Jobim, and Edino Krieger.
He served as Artistic Director and Conductor in the productions of operas such as The Abduction from the Seraglio, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, La Bohème, among others.
Cláudio Cruz has been awarded by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA), the Carlos Gomes Prize, the Bravo Prize, Grammy Awards, among others.
Between 1990 and 2014, he held the position of Concertmaster of the OSESP.
